Study the Figure With the Masters – October 1, 8 ,15 ,22 , 6-9 pm. $10/class (member)
Draw from a nude model at the Picker Gallery at Colgate. Leigh Yardley facilitates this workshop in 4 sessions. Sign up for one class or all four. Curator, Joachim Homann will introduce the figure drawings in the current exhibit to the first class session. Jessse Henderson, Amy Eustance, and Rosita Dickson will speak about their approach to drawing the figure in following sessions.
Figure Drawing 1 for Children – Saturday October 4, 1-3 pm Colgate Bookstore - $5
Children 8 and up will draw from a clothed figure. Leigh Yardley will lead the group in this fun and exciting class - comfortable messy clothes are suggested. Leigh is an experienced artist/educator, working with kids and their teachers in schools across the area to meld art with curriculum. All materials provided.
Sushi with Samanthi – Sunday, October 26, 2-5 pm, The Palace Theater $15(member)
Learn sushi-rolling basics with Sami. Sushi is not just raw fish! Learn how vinegared rice, crisp fresh vegetables, and other ingredients, are rolled into a creative, simple, and tasty healthful treat! Enjoy the flavors of another culture. With commentary by Candi of Sushi Blues.
Intermediate to Advanced Poetry – November 3,10,17, 6-8 pm, MAD Art Gallery $15(member).
Rachael Ikins shows her photography and poetry at the gallery, and hosts regular Monday poetry nights at Sushi Blues. Join her for three sessions where participants can share their work and learn "what works". Participants will also hear Georgia Popoff, from the Downtown Writers' Center of Syracuse read from her new book at Sushi Blues, with opportunities to ask questions. Participants may also choose to read their own "best of the best" poetry - at the microphone!
Tile Making – CLAY PLAY with Cate – November 1 & 8, 1-3 pm Clay Play Studio $20(member)
Make clay tiles using slab or coil methods with potter Cate Valk as your guide. Make a hot plate, wall hanging, backsplash or ??? Create! Materials & firings included.
Wet Felting with Susanne Farrington – November 22 & 23, 1-4 pm, The Palace Theater $10 (member).
Work from scratch with raw wool, soap and water, and your hands. Include some colored and carded wool in the manner of collage to make a unique handbag for yourself or as a gift.

Field Trip to Storm King Art Center October 18th
Join MAD Art members on a field trip to Storm King Art Center
in Mountainville, NY (near Poughkeepsie)!
Meet at the Grand Union Parking lot on Saturday, October 18th at 8:30 AM to carpool and caravan to one of the most unique collections of cntemporary art celebrating the relationship between sculpture and nature. The SKAC features works by Nevelson, Goldsworthy, Noguchi and calder - amoung others!
We'll start with lunch at a nearby restaurant and then arrive at the Storm King Art Center to explore on our own. At 2:00 pm, we will join a docent-guided "Highlights of the Collection" tour which lasts about an hour.
Admission cost is $10 for adults, $9 senior, $7-9 students with ID.
